Dart is a new and easy way to pay for transit. Pay once and ride on both SMART and DDOT, without worrying about transfers or additional fees.
On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, you can start using Dart to ride SMART and DDOT. Dart regional passes include 4 Hour, 24 Hour,7 Day & 31 Day. Each pass is offered in full and reduced fares.
Youth fare will be reduced to $0.50 on SMART, and all transfer fares will be eliminated. Monthly SMART/DDOT Regional Passes and Regional Plus Passes will be replaced with a rolling 31-Day Dart regional pass.
SMART and DDOT are working together to align fare policies and improve regional mobility by simplifying the payment of fares for riders who use both systems.
The adoption of Dart by SMART/DDOT better coordinates both agencies fare to improve transit for people who rely on both systems.
We are eliminating the need to pay for transfers. When you purchase a Dart regional fare, it is good for unlimited rides on both systems in any direction for the time allotted (e.g.. 4 hours, 24 hours, 7 days, 31 days).
Transfers will be eliminated and the Dart regional passes will be honored for unlimited rides between both systems.
SMART tickets will no longer be accepted on DDOT buses. SMART tickets will only be valid on SMART buses.
No, the NEW Dart regional passes are rolling passes and start on first use and work for the time designated on the pass. For example – When a Dart 31 Day regional pass is activated, the pass is active for 31 consecutive days.
We ask that you ‘Say Before You Pay’. Meaning before you put money into the farebox, tell the driver what pass you want. For instance, “I want a… 4 hour full pass; 4 hour reduced pass; 24 hour full pass; 24 hour reduced pass…”
By doing so, you will be sure to get the pass you want!
